   A leading-edge open source release that is free to acquire and run, and offers a range of support options for enterprises. The latest enhancements to Solaris, including ZFS, Solaris Containers and Predictive Self Healing, will be found in OpenSolaris first. 3. ¿Qué hay de nuevo en Solaris 10 5/09?

   Los sistemas que ejecutan Solaris 10 ahora pueden arrancar desde el sistema de archivos Solaris ZFS y pueden usar ZFS como su sistema de archivos raíz.
   
   Entre los elementos de virtualización tenemos:
   

   • un Solaris Container puede actualizar su entorno automáticamente cuando se traslade de un sistema al otro
   • compatibilidad de Logical Domains para entrada y salida de disco y de red configurable dinámicamente
   • compatibilidad con la paravirtualización cuando se utiliza Solaris 10 como SO huésped en entornos basados en Xen, como sería el Sun xVM Server.
   
   Solaris 10 5/09 también incluye compatibilidad con los más recientes sistemas de Sun y otros proveedores, entre ellos sistemas basados en la Serie 7400 de los procesadores Intel ® Xeon®.
   
   Trabajando en estrecha colaboración, Sun e Intel han asegurado que el SO Solaris y la nueva serie 5500 de procesadores Intel® Xeon® se combinen para ofrece nuevos servidores basados en Intel Xeon con los máximos niveles de rendimiento,, uso eficiente de la energía y confiabilidad de x64 que haya en el mercado.

6. Where can I learn more about current and upcoming Solaris virtualisation technologies?

   Several virtualisation technologies are incorporated in the Solaris OS, such as Solaris Containers, Sun xVM Server / Sun xVM Ops Center and Logical Domains (LDoms). In addition, through Sun xVM Virtualbox,  Sun offers the ability to run a wide variety of operating systems as virtual machines. Sun also offers Sun Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, a technology to virtualise desktops.
